Disney World at Night

It's hard to believe it's been five years since I lived near and worked at Disney World. I miss it something fierce, too. I told my mom while were there that I was "homesick." If I didn't already have an amazing opportunity in August, I would have driven myself right over to the casting office and found myself a job. I'm not kidding.

One of my favorite parts of working there {aside from my actual job} was free access to the parks. I worked everywhere and often, after a shift, I and other cast members would run into the park for a quick ride or a favorite show. Sometimes, I'd go to EPCOT just to shop in the World Showcase, or the Magic Kingdom to get my very favorite Disney dessert {pineapple soft serve in pineapple juice. Heaven, y'all}. My roommates and I would run to Downtown Disney, or drive to Hollywood Studios to ride Tower of Terror or Rockin' Roller Coaster.

Most of all, though, I'd go watch the shows/fireworks at night. Wishes, Illuminations, Fantasmic!, the illuminated Castle or Geosphere. Nothing compares to Disney at night. Nothing.

I mean, how beautiful is that? Let's head to EPCOT, shall we? The World Showcase first, I think.

{Japan, a little blurry}
{Spaceship Earth}

Le sigh. I do love it here. I miss the warm breeze on my face. The excited munchkins just beside themselves, excited to meet their favorite character.

Have you been to Disney World?

  1. I love Disney & can't wait to go back (hopefully in January to run the marathon next year). It is so beautiful at night- how cool that you used to work there :)

  3. O-mi-god! I looove Disney World with all of my heart! It has been two years since I was last there and I want to go back so badly, but we are waiting until our son is 6 or 7 so he can go on all of the rides with us -- he's not even 1 yet. Here's hoping he's tall enough! I pretty much cry every time a Disney commercial comes on because I want to go back so much. I was actually one of those "excited munchkins" waiting to meet the princesses and Pooh at the age of 25 :)

  4. I treated myself Disney a few years ago for my birthday. It was OK, but I thought it would have been more interesting for children. I wish I had gone to Mexico as I had earlier planned but dropped the idea after the violence started there.

    1. I think Disney is one of those things that you get it, or you don't. I've been a Disney kid and I worked there so I totally "get it." I think it also depends on some of the things you go for. Personally, I go for the food and some of the more adult things, and don't spend as much time on the stuff I did as a kid.

      That being said, I do love other travel destinations and try to pepper in other places.

  5. We went to Disney the 10 and 11. I LOVE Disney but I will say going as a parent was a COMPLETELY different experience. Much more stressful and suddenly not about me anymore...how did that happen :) But we still loved it and loved seeing my sons eyes light up (but didnt love the tantrums, ha!)

    I remember reading about the caste system and underground tunnels at Disney. It sounds like such a fascinating place to work!

    I was SO bummed when I was there though that Dumbo was down and the Thunder Mountain Railroad was down. Oh well...I am sure it will be amazing when the expansion is done but who knows when we will be back (hopefully in a couple of years!)
