Happy Birthday, Trees!

It's Tu B'Shevat, y'all! Simply put: Jewish Earth Day, the New Year for trees.

Really, it's a bit more complicated than that, in the sense that Judaism places importance on using resources responsibly and being kind to nature and animals. It was always one of my favorite days in Hebrew School: we got to go outside and play, and sometimes we'd plant trees.

Now that I'm a nature enthusiast {as opposed to a kid who didn't want to practice her Hebrew prayers for the fiftieth time}, it really is one of my favorite holidays {I think I say this a lot. That's a good thing, right?}.

In honor of Tu B'Shevat, I thought I'd share some of my favorite tree pictures with you from my arsenal.

What will you do to celebrate trees?

  2. So pretty! I love taking pictures of trees too. They're all so unique. I would love to see the blossoms in DC someday.
