A FAMILY room

So many things are going on here at Adventures in Flip Flops! First, have you seen my giveaway? If you're a bookworm, you should enter. Just sayin'.

Second, I'm being featured over at one of my very favorite blogs, Dianapantz! She's a pretty awesome person, and so, I think you should go say hi.

And last {but definitely not least!} we have Inspiration Workshop!

I missed Gussy's workshop last week. Life got in the way {read: writing a thesis got in the way!}, and I just couldn't do it! Luckily, I have a draft turned in and am working on edits {which really means I'm re-writing half of it}. So, onward!

One thing I miss about my own apartment is having my own living room. I miss my photos, my {shelves of} books. I'm at the point where I can start buying cushy chairs {I miss my big blue armchair!} and having my travel photos professionally framed.

{Cherry blossoms in Washington, D.C. on a cloudy evening. This one is already framed}

{Salt Lake City LDS Temple in the fall! This one is in the queue to be framed}

In a few months {as in, in January when its actually cold here} I'll miss snuggling with a home-made mocha in my down blanket, watching my favorite episodes of NCIS.

But, do you know what I'll miss more than that? The family part of the family room.  You see, I grew up with my mom's family close-by, and my weekends were {and still are} filled with visits, chatter, and singing {um, don't ask - love y'all though!}. We are a lively bunch, and I SO missed it when I was at college and lived by myself {even if I didn't know it at the time}. If only I could take them all with me when/if I move away.

So, really, when you think about it, its not so much the comfy chairs,

or the mounds of books,

but about this:

Have a Happy Thursday everyone!

  1. You couldn't have said it better! It's not about the look but the people sitting on the couch with you. Thank you for reminding us all that ;-)
