My Bucket List: Happy Birthday to me!

So, today is my birthday (nah, nah nah, nah, nah, nah!). I'm 25. A whole quarter of a century. I can now rent a car without a whole bunch of extra fees and other gobbledegook. When the heck did that happen?!

I've seen a bunch of people do a bunch of things for their birthdays. I've seen cakes, and "about me" lists, and YouTube videos, and well, none of it was speaking to me. For one thing, I didn't feel like cooking myself a birthday cake to take pictures of, and I really don't like talking about myself in random fact format.

But, what I have been thinking of lately (especially as I approach the completion of another degree) is that I don't know what I want to do with my life. I think of my 8 year old self, so sure she was going to be an ice-skater (or astronaut) and wish she had just lined out her goals a bit more clearly (ahem). Despite my Quarter-Life Crisis, I do know that I always want an adventure, and so, for your pleasure, I thought I'd share my Bucket List.

In no particular order, before I "kick the bucket," I want to:

* Go skydiving
* Visit Cedar Point
* Live in another country
* Visit Ireland, New Zealand, Japan
* Kayak the fjords in Norway
* Write a novel
* Participate in a No Pants Subway Ride or The MP3 Experiment {(or both!)}
* Fly an airplane
* Learn to surf {(and especially kite surf!)}
* Watch the Olympics, in person
* Be financially stable enough to sponsor several children or to foster
* Meet the leader of a nation
* Run a half marathon
* Bike an MS 150
* Learn to speak another language fluently
* Have a vegetable garden
* Give someone unrelated to me a scholarship to college {(I've wanted to do this since I recieved my HLSR Metropolitan Scholarship senior year of high school)}.
* Visit Machu Picchu, Stonehenge, the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, and the pyramids at Giza
* Be an advocate in Voices For Children
* Go hang-gliding
* Get my SCUBA certification
* Have a pen-pal
* Get a PhD
* Have a wild and fun love affair {(you know, like on Grease!)}
* Learn to play the guitar
* Go rafting in the Grand Canyon {(I should put my name on the waiting list NOW)}

Good thing I have the rest of my life to work on this! What's on your bucket list?

    My "bucket list" (such as it is):
    Continue to grow as a person
    Be the best wife I can be
    Be the best mom I can be
    Try to take advantage of every opportunity that comes my way to travel and make good memories with my friends and family

  2. Happy birthday!!!

    While not quite a bucket list, my goal in life is to visit all seven continents. (Four down, three to go.)

  4. @Kristen: I think the "growing as a person" thing is implied in the list. I hope I always continue to do that, and to learn something new every day.

    @Meghan: What a fun goal! I've been to 4 (but, Israel isn't really on continent, IMO; it's a weird little in-the-middle-area): North America, Asia (Israel), Europe, and Australia.

    @Sherri Lynn: I will definitely be documenting everything. I'm a photo-taking journaling traveler for sure!
