Howdy, friends!
This week, Penny talks about saving money on laundry for The Saved Quarter Challenge. I have a confession to make: I don't pay for laundry. I use my parent's washing machine, dryer, and laundry detergent. Yes, I am that spoiled graduate student. But, I have used many (MANY!) of Penny's hints in the past, and once this sweet little arrangement is over, I will again.
This past week has been nice! There hasn't been a lot to spend money on, and I got paid most of what I owe (finally!). Once I pay a tuition payment, I will be able to move a good chunk into savings. I've also been picking up some shifts at my third job, some baby sitting jobs, and one or two challenge course days. Those are some small chunks of money that really do add up over time.
Some things to work on this week:
1. $100 Holiday. I need to work on getting more Swagbucks and MyPoints (not sure how the MyPoints referral link works, but if you want to sign up, e-mail me and I'll send you a referral e-mail!) so that I can earn some more gift cards. I've also been entering quite a few giveaways for some etsy shops that have adorable things and will make great gifts if I win!
2. Nix the "latte factor." I was doing so well. I hadn't bought coffee for almost 3 weeks, kind of a record for me. I lapsed back into the pattern when my coffee press broke (and broke spectacularly) and I couldn't exchange it for a few days. So, tomorrow, back to making my own coffee.
3. Clean out my apartment. This won't save me money, per say, but it has been doing a lot for showing me how unnecessary stuff is. The more I give away or sell (sadly, I give away more than I sell!) the less I want to buy more stuff.
4. Go to the gym. Another thing that doesn't directly save me money. But, I've been neglecting exercise for a bit, and my clothes are getting tight. So, my options are go to the gym (at which I have a free membership) or buy new clothes. Far cheaper to get to the gym so I won't need new clothes!
What are you working on this week?

I am always trying to get rid of "stuff." And I completely relate with the coffe; one day I will go 3 weeks without going out for coffee!! :)
