Memes, awards, and why I've been gone for two weeks!

Hello loyal readers (all 2 of y'all)!  You might be wondering where I've been for the past few weeks. The short-ish answer is school, work, life.  In reality, it's more like, IRB, conference, school starting, driving back and forth to Houston, etc.  Not to worry, though, I did take some pictures of the conference I attended at Mo Ranch, and I'll post those sometime next week.

I have to admit, it's easy to just not pay attention when you forget to blog. I'll do it tomorrow, I would always say. And, two weeks later, here we are. Nothing. Nada. Zilch.

Which is why I was super excited to get a comment from Kristen saying that she had passed the Versatile Blogger Award onto me!  That's pretty flattering, and gives me a good excuse to get back into blogging mode.

One thing I really like about this award is that it is also a meme.  To accept the award, you must:

1.  Thank and link back to the person who gave you the award.
2.  Answer 10 Questions.
3.  Pass it along to 7 blogs you've recently discovered and enjoy.
4.  Leave your recipients a note, telling them about the award.

So, without further ado, thank you Kristen at Just Thinking for thinking of me!  For those of you who haven't been over there, Kristen is blogging her life as a stay-at-home-wife trying for a baby and handling an auto-immune disease. Pretty inspiring stuff.

I believe there were some questions for me?

1)  Why did you create this blog?

To be honest, I don't know. I sort of started posting for a bit, and then stopped, and posted, and stopped. It has evolved into a way for me to share some recipes, crafts (coming soon!), and book reviews with family and friends, and to hold myself accountable to my financial goals.  One benefit, though, is my connection to a wider group of bloggers who are more or less doing the same things I am, and to use them for ideas and inspiration.

2)  What kinds of blogs do you follow?

That's kind of like saying, what books do you read? I read everything. Mom blogs, cooking blogs, craft blogs, sex education blogs, travel blogs, sewing blogs, financial blogs, everything.

 3)   Favorite make-up brand

Ha, like I wear makeup.  I do like Bare Minerals, but I don't believe I've purchased make up in years.

4)  Favorite clothing brand?

No brands.  I like things that I can get a good deal on, and things that I can buy used.  Although, I do like Gap jeans, and vibram shoes.  And Toms.

5)  Indispensable makeup product?

None.  I do use a moisturizer with sunscreen every day, but I don't believe that qualifies as make-up.

6)  Favorite color?

All the colors!  Paint me a rainbow!

7)  Favorite perfume?

Yeah, I don't wear perfume either.

8)  Favorite film?

The American President, and Star Trek (the newest one).  Yes, please.  I also watch Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, and Ever After quite a bit.

9)  What country would you like to visit and why?

Japan. Israel (March! yay!). Germany. Switzerland. Norway. Africa (yes, I know that's a continent). Peru.  I mean, why not?

10)  Would you rather forget to put mascara on one eye or blush on one side of your face?

Mascara.  Who wants to look like they got sunburned on one side of their face (oh wait, am I the only one who can't wear blush because it makes me look sunburned?).

Passing it on:

I said I subscribe to a bunch of different blogs, and I love this portion of this meme.  How cool to help y'all find some cool new blogs, and recognize them for their awesomeness? I choose:

-Meg at Curls and Coffee
-Arena at The Nerds Wife
-Kim at Yellow Songbird
-Penny at The Saved Quarter
-Beth at Budget Bytes
-Delightful Country Cookin'
-Gussy at GussySews

The winners have been notified.  Even if they don't continue the meme, I hope you all enjoy their spaces, and pick up a new blog or two.  Happy Friday!
